Didactic Farm in Rocca di Mezzo

In the village of Rocca di Mezzo there are didactic laboratories, organised by a local farm which teaches youngsters how to produce cheese, how to ride horses and make them discover the world of bees. These laboartories are very important for both young people and for families as they experience nature life.

Village of San Demetrio ne' Vestini

The village of San Demetrio ne' Vestini is known for its beautiful landscape; near the town centre, is a scenic overview with moutains, spontaneous vegetation and the crystal clear water of a river which runs up to the village. Unfortunately the village was damaged by an earthquake on 6th April 2009 and is still today under re-construction

Craters of the village of Secinaro

Secinaro is a small village which became famous for its meteor crater, where now is a natural lake. It has been recently argued, though, that the crater was due to human or wildlife's excavations. Scientists still continue to investigate.

Church of Saint Mary of the Bridge

The church of Saint Mary of the Bridge in Tione degli Abruzzi is very interesting from an artistic and architectonic point of view, due to its irregular and asymmetrical structure. The church is probably of monastic origins and it was probably built on the ruins of a pagan temple, around the V-VI century

Tower of Tione degli Abruzzi

The Tower of Tione degli Abruzzi was erected in XIV century as a watchtower and was therefore located in the upper part of the village; it was probably surrounded by walls, which today are not visible any more. The watchtower is 20 mt high and divided in 4 floors.

di Mezzo Fort village

The village of di Mezzo Fort is of medieval origins and is located on the southern part, upon San Calvario's mountain. It is known as a nice place where people can spend holidays in close contact with nature.

di Cambio medieval village

Di Cambio medieval village was built at the foot of Mount Rocca de Cagno. Today is tourist place for moutain hikers and those who look for a closer contact with nature.

Saint Iona Tower

Saint Iona tower was erected in XIII century in the town of Ovindoly and was initially a watchtower, therefore it was isolated from the village. Later on, the village expanded and included the tower which became a linking point between two local castles.

Church of Saint Nicholas

The Church of Saint Nicola from Molina Aterno has valuable baroque and renaissence altars inside; one is particularly interesting as it was made from the ruins of an ancient marble balustrade of XVII century. Because of the earthquake which stroke Abruzzo, the Church today is still unaccessible.

Goriano Sicoli Manor-house

The manor house of Goriano Sicoli used to be a castle in the XI century, while in 1593 it was transformed into a local parish Church. It was once very important for the whole Region as it represented a massive defensive structure, protected by a bulwark and surrounded by a double circle of walls with loopholes.

Gagliano Aterno Castle

The castle of Gagliano Aterno shows a pentagonal base and is one of the best preserved castle in the Region Abruzzo. It has a noble appearance, with a beautiful open gallery and two rows of windows which overlook the village of Gagliano Aterno. It is surrounded by a moat, and the access is through a drawbridge.

Retenga Castle

The village of Fontecchio hosts the ancient Castle of Retenga, which was inhabited since the Italic period. The defensive structure of the castle dates back to XV-XVI century. Inside the circle of walls, there is the ancient bakery, which still preserves all ancient elements.

Church of Saint Mary of Peace

The Church of Saint Mary of Peace is located inside the town of Fontecchio; it was erected in XI century, as a sign of peace between the two adjacent fighting villages. The Church was restored many times in the past and it is full of important pieces of art, which today makes it very important and valuable.

Castle Ofanianum

In Fagnano Alto is a fortress of III-IV century B.C., which is a typical example of a medieval castle, composed of a fortified village, two towers, a drawbridge and 2 ogival doors.

Rupestrian Church of Saint Rocco

In the hamlet of Ripa, there is the rupestrian church dedicated to Saint Rocco, excavated in a cave and located on a natural terrace. Inside there are altars and frescos, a blue roof with stars and a concrete/rocky floor.

Church and Convent of Saint Francis from Assisi

In Castelvecchio Subequo is a small church dedicated to Saint Francis and an adjacent convent of Saint Mary, where in XIII century, miracles took place. Since then, every year many people go to visit the church and hope for miracles.

Roman Italic temple

In Castel di Ieri, is a Roman Temple of Republican age with mosaics and inscriptions on the floor, built in the proximity of a grassland area, used by local shepherds in ancient, primitive times

Botanical Garden

Inside the village of Castello di Beffi (in Acciano), is a botanical garden, which surrounds the ruins of the ancient castle of Beffi. People can therefore enjoy being in close contact with nature and at the same time see and walk through the ruins of the castle.

Publication 'From the memory to the production: wild plants and officinal herbs traditional use'

The publication is a collection of about twenty interviews made to elderly people to collect folk tradition knowledges on plants and herbs gathering, processing and use.

Erbarium 'Recognize and treat with the herbs, walking through the paths of Ronc'

The herbarium, aimed at re-discovering the local knowledge on the user of herbs, collects 34 cards dedicated to officinal local varieties, filled in with the collaboration of some local women.
