Description
The publication 'From the memory to the production: wild plants and officinal herbs traditional use' is a collection of about twenty interviews made to elderly people selectioned between those residing in the Castello Tesino and Cinte Tesino Retirement Homes. The interviews took place between august 2006 and march 2007 and were conducted on elderly groups. The more relevant themes which emerged by the interviews were then deepened by means of interviews to individuals, selected on the basis of their competences and experiences. The research, advanced by the Documentation on the Forest work Centre, is dedicated to the “forest derived products” - plants, fruits, resin etc – and collects folk tradition knowledges on plants and herbs gathering, processing and use.

The knowledges collected by the publication 'From the memory to the production: wild plants and officinal herbs traditional use' belong to an heritage orally handed down for centuries by the local Tesino communities, that were written down for the first time. A rich heritage of knowledges and know-how that witnesses the old and strong relationship of the local people with its territory. The surprising variety of information which have been catalogued give to the reader both inspiration for a future close examination and simple but efficient remedies for curing little health disorders. Local importance.
Potential usability
The research enlightens a small part of the wide Tesino community cultural heritage, consisting in knowledges, recipes and healing recipes handed down through the centuries and sometimes still used. The enhancement of these notions and customs is also aimed at the eventual marketing of some of them, as a means for creating new job opportunities and encouraging the Tesino tourist appeal.
