Description

Village of San Demetrio ne' Vestini. The village is particularly known for its beautiful natural landscape; near the town centre, is a natural and beautiful landscape with moutains, spontaneous vegetation and the crystal clear water of a river which runs up to the village. This is something which tourists (and local people) really appreciate. On 6th April 2009 a 5,8 Richter scale earthquake stroke the village of San Demetrio ne' Vestini. Unfortunately many were the injured and three people died in this event. Today, the village is still under re-construction, as many were the damages to churches, steeples and to the natural lake of Sinizzo.

Responsibility

The Municipality of San Demetrio ne' Vestini Tel: +39.0862.810834

Role

At present, the cultural value is still under re-construction, due to the earthquake of April 2009 which caused the collapse of many buildings and other cultural values. National importance

Potential usability

The development potential of the village is low at the moment, unfortunately and its re-building depends on private donations and governmental aids. Reconstruction works are going on, but very slowly. Many are the buildings which need interventions, such as churches and private houses. The potential usability of the cultural value depends therefore on financial support.
